First up, we are talking SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
So, what is SEO?
SEMrush describes SEO as: “the process of improving the performance and experience of your website so it can gain better visibility in search engines. Specifically, SEO is all about ranking in the organic search results.”
In the simplest of terms – it is the process of ensuring your content has the best possible chance of being found on Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) by including relevant keywords and phrases, backlinks and headings into your page content.
SEO is a great way to bring more traffic, leads, customers, and revenue to your business.
Benefits of SEO and why you should care:
- Makes your brand more visible when your potential customers search on Google
- Drives targeted traffic to your website
- Gives you a solid competitive advantage
- Increases organic business
Your secret weapons to optimise your website for experiences and activities…
Be specific and relevant with long-tail keywords…
This means you have a much better chance of ranking highly on Google than choosing a broader terms. Many businesses will be targeting high volume keywords that are extremely difficult to rank for. For example, if you’re a farm attraction based in Kingston Upon Thames, “things to do” is a very broad search term with lots of competition, so chances are you would not rank well on Google. A better long-tail keyword to focus on would be something like “things to do in Kingston Upon Thames” or “farms in Kingston Upon Thames”.
Understand your customer journey (search intent)…
You can use this to help decide whether you need additional blog content to provide your customers with more insightful information or if they are reaching your site already knowing what they want.
Ultimately, your website content will help you drive business, and SEO is one of the most powerful digital marketing tools out there.
