Background
Xplore Science Discovery Centre, (Canolfan Darganfod Gwyddoniaeth Xplore! ) based in Wrexham, is a charity organisation dedicated to advancing education in STEM. Opened over two decades ago and officially opened by the Queen, Xplore has long been a cornerstone of science learning in the community. The centre is operated by North Wales Science, a charity owned by Wrexham University.
The challenge
Managing visitor flow and ticketing posed significant challenges before Beyonk's implementation. The previous ticketing system used before Beyonk lacked QR code functionality, making entry slow and harder for staff to maintain control.
Additionally, the previous system did not integrate with Xplore’s till software, EPOS Now, creating inefficiencies by requiring separate systems for processing ticket sales, memberships, and on-site purchases.

Beyonk provided a modern, visitor-centric solution that fully integrated with Xplore’s existing systems, directly addressing their operational challenges and transforming ticketing and membership management into a streamlined, efficient process.
By integrating seamlessly with EPOS Now, Beyonk connected ticketing directly to Xplore’s till software, allowing staff to manage ticket sales, on-site purchases from the cafe and shop and membership redemptions and check-ins from a single interface. This eliminated the need to juggle between separate systems, significantly reducing administrative workload. Staff could now quickly access customer records, process payments, and retrieve membership details without delays, improving both efficiency and accuracy.
The introduction of QR code functionality for tickets and memberships transformed the entry experience. QR codes could be easily scanned on-site for instant access, speeding up entry and enabling staff to maintain better control over visitor flow. This streamlined their entry and enhanced operational efficiency at busy times.
Beyonk’s advanced membership management features further simplified operations. Digital membership QR codes could be stored in mobile wallets like Google Wallet, eliminating the need for physical cards. If a member misplaced their code, staff could effortlessly locate their record in the system, confirm their details, and resend the code via email within seconds, providing a seamless customer experience.
Additionally, the transition to a paperless system aligned perfectly with Xplore’s sustainability goals. By going paperless, the new system helped lower the centre’s carbon footprint while supporting environmentally conscious operations.
